Lullabies for R
In the last few days while R has been on life support, friends and family have left him voicemail messages that we have played for him. Others have thought of songs that have been meaningful to R over the years and have played those songs for him. Two different friends mentioned "Fireflies" by Owl City. It was the theme song to so many Wednesday adventures with friends. And long before that, it was a song that R sang so often that I recorded him singing it. This recording is from November 2009. R was six years old.

Oh, Suzanne! :-( I know it can't take away the nightmare, but when I saw what was happening on your FB wall, I wanted to post over and over again for people to STOP! I also wished that I had your login/password, so I could go in and delete all those comments before you saw them. I am so, so sorry. After the initial horrific jolt of seeing the FB post that started it all, I decided it wasn't true.
ReplyDeleteI have been sharing your Riley updates on my FB wall, sharing them
in person -- there are dozens and dozens of people here in Georgia praying for Riley. Someone told me they started a prayer chain for Riley that after one day had 400 people praying for him.
Please know that there are many, many people who have had only his precious life in their thoughts and prayers.

I love that you are playing songs and messages from people to him. Maybe play the World Series games next to his bed (radio broadcast) or on the tv... (of course, cause i'm me, i suggest also putting on some mozart and brahms, etc!) much love and always thinking about you guys.
ReplyDeleteHe got some Vivaldi :)
DeleteThank you so much for sharing that beautiful video! I'm so struck by Riley's amazing eyes - so deep and so kind. I pray everyday for Riley, for you and for the rest of his family. One step at a time. Riley is strong, so strong!
