But it is not wholly satisfactory. I suppose the closest I could come up with would be "bereaver." It sounds funny used as a label rather than "bereaved" as a descriptor. Is grief something we do, rather than something we are overcome by? An interesting thought. It is, obviously, something our limbic system does, as an emotional state.
